9. Being successful and being satisfied

Over the period of time I had learnt one simple yet great philosophy, "being satisfied and contented gives more happiness than being just successful".

We were successful in building our first dog store. Smiley was also happy to see his stuff in our store. He was enjoying with us at every great moment. The response to our store was good and we earned a handful amount of money to be self sufficient as well as to spend some of it lavishly. The store was a great success because of so many factors and people around us were the major contributors to it. So, we decided not to overspend the money just because we earned it.

Our immediate next step was to give back something to the society that had given us the life we were living. We started adopting street dogs, train them and every year 100 people from the town would get a dog free and the related products to maintain it sufficiently for 3 months. This was a continuous plan for first 10 years and we had decided that we will eliminate the street dogs and the nuisance created by them in the next 10 years.

With such an innovative step we got aid from many local, state and national level veterinary authorities and other government bodies too. Now we had enough cash flow and great satisfaction about our duties to the town and the society. We were more than happy to extend our business to other pets like cats, parrots and other animals and birds.

We began the study of various types of pets and all that process was repeated that we had done to setup our first dog store. In a course of over 4 years we had setup 5 pet store across the town, one store each for a specific kind of pet. We also had interlocking mechanism among our stores where we could ask for any of the products from any store and we would serve it withing hours.

Inspired by our initiatives we were offered free software services by a local engineering college students who built us a pet store software and provided all the necessary features to buy, inquire, and popularize our pet stores in the town. We also had volunteers who could provide solutions to the problems faced by pet owners for free.

In the mean time Neha and Dinesh got married. Dinesh was Neha's classmate and a very enthusiastic volunteer for all my pet store activities. He was an engineer by profession and was working as a freelancer consultant.

Also, Sarala and I got married married recently after 3 years of shaping out my dream and making it a great dream come true. She was undoubtedly a great woman I had ever met in my life. I always get that automatic smile when I think of her or see her name mentioned in the bills or my computer screen or anywhere else that anyone can think of!

Now I was fully experiencing the happiness that the aforementioned philosophical piece depicts - "being satisfied and contented gives more happiness than being just successful".
